As we will discover briefly, Sintra is not your regular travel destination. Sintra is well known for its numerous palaces and lush landscapes. First up on your adventure, you must be the only Pena Palace! This colorful masterpiece is like a giant scoop of ice cream plopped in a forest.
And get this – it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site, so you know it’s got to be good.
But wait, there’s more!
Get in tune with your inner Indiana Jones at the mysterious Quinta da Regaleira. This site offers a lot to explore, just like a Gothic dreamscape, complete with underground tunnels. Don’t even get me started on the Initiation Well—a deep, climbable well that’s equal parts thrilling and chilling.
If you’re a nature lover, you’re in for a treat!
The Sintra-Cascais Natural Park is a hiker’s paradise. It features beautiful trails that lead to breathtaking views. Trust me, you’ll be reaching for your camera at every turn.

But if you’re more of a landlubber, don’t worry – Hallstatt also has beautiful hiking trails. Take your time to tackle the Hallstatt Skywalk. And for a little history lesson, take a tour of the Hallstatt Salt Mine.
